Wicca is a young religion, less than 100 years old. It was founded by a man named Gerald Gardener, a British civil servant in between WW1 and WW2. It blends from a lot of different sources, including the work of Aleister Crowley , in order to build a spiritual practice that addresses needs of a more modern age. Along the way, lots of folks have contributed to and changed Wicca: Doreen Valiente, Scott Cunningham, and Aidan Kelly to name a few.
At it’s best, Wicca provides a framework to help us confront a feeling of separation from nature, from each other, and from ourselves. However, being so young, it carries a lot of homophobia, cissexism, aphobia, ableism, and racism. I want to honor the work my predecessors did by continuing to help Wicca grow through my writing and practice.
